Struggling to Finish Books? Here's some tips. (Blog by Daniel Lee)

After reading Mateo's blog, "Books I Haven't Finished...yet," I found myself pondering about the countless number of books that I haven't finished. For me, I usually find myself not finishing books because I lose interest, or I can't get engaged in a book. So, for my blog, I'm going to write about some tips that I've personally used to keep myself consistently engaged in the books I read. Hopefully these tips may be able help out others in the future.   1. Make reading a routine in your daily life               This may seem incredibly obvious to many, but for many readers who are starting to build a habit in reading, this may sound daunting. It was for me at least. Making reading a routine sounded unnecessary to me because I always looked at reading as a thing I had to do when my dad made me. But when I started to read every day, I found myself being more engaged and wanting to read. Instead of having to refresh my memory of where I le

The Handmaid's Tale: A Novel for Anyone but the Weak-Kneed (Robenas Tadesse)

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood is not for the lighthearted. The Handmaid’s Tale is the story of a young woman named Offred, trapped between the clutches of the Republic of Gilead, formerly known as the United States. After a plague decimates the fertility rate, a group of extremist Puritan Christians slowly take over the country; their goal is to create an entirely self-sufficient nation hell-bent on producing as many infants as possible, disregarding basic human rights.   Family of Liars  Summary and Review By Krishna Jaswal  This blog contains spoilers for We Were Liars. There will be no spoilers for Family of Liars though (which is what this blog is about)!  Summary  Family of Liars in a sense is the prequel to We Were Liars. It tells the story of Caroline Sinclair, the mother of Johnny who was a part of “The Liars” along with Cadence, Mirren, and Gat. The only thing, which is highkey the main plot twist of We Were Liars, that I’ll spoil is that the accident that Cadence goes back to the island to find out about was a fire. There was a fire and out of the Liars, she was the only one to survive. The summer she goes back, Johnny, Mirren, and Gat appear to her as ghosts to help her find out what truly happened. I dropped a hint or two in my last blog (which you should go read if you haven’t!) about the island being haunted and what really happened to the Liars.  Even though Family of Liars starts off with Johnny being a ghost after the accident, i
